As a full-time Project Coordinator for a Non-profit, on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, I hosted a remarkable celebratory virtual event for resident leaders within a specific community (Markham, York Region, Canada) to showcase their achievements and enlighten the community about the issues they are addressing as well as the support they needed to sustain their initiatives.

I had two weeks to outreach for this event on social media and within my networks. I got a total of 80 registered attendees, including representatives from my project funder (United Way), York Region Municipal, Markham's Ward 8 & 7 Councilors, stakeholders and community residents.

Indeed we surpassed our target of 50 attendees. Surprisingly, we were able to retain 60% of our audience throughout the event resulting in massive engagement.

This wouldn't have been possible if not for my fantastic team comprising my manager, supervisor, assistant, zoom technician, and resident leaders who worked tirelessly at the backend to perfect their presentations.

My role comes with numerous responsibilities that push me off the ledge uncountable times. Time without number, I have come across experiences that test my values, personality and purpose. These pressures make me go back to my source of wisdom, creativity, knowledge, "GOD." The CEO of my life.

In contrast, my first day in this role was too overwhelming, but today, it's a success story. I have had many reasons to quit my job, but perseverance made me stay.

Quitting only put a pause to the problem. It doesn't solve it.

Why is perseverance essential:

  • You stand for what you believe in.

  • You establish unbeatable confidence.

  • You get to fine-tune your personality as you progress.

  • You build resilience, which cuts deep into other areas of your life.

How can you persevere;

I. Set a personality goal: Who do you want to be at the end of the struggle? You can paddle your way through the turbulence to success.

II. Refocus: Why are you doing what you are doing? Are you seeking human acceptance? You will need to refocus by clarifying your intentions. Human unstable emotions are unstable will fall short of your expectation towards appreciating your hard work and consistency. However, remind yourself you are doing this for your creator, “God.”

Refocusing will highlight where your true strength comes from.

III. Fast: Depending on the change you seek, you would need to deny yourself particular pleasure. Fasting reminds you about your goal. It forces you to refocus.

Fasting humbles you and causes you to become aware of your intentions.

I am on a 27days fast, and I am loving it.
