What is A Purposeless Life? A Deep Perspective

Living without knowing your life purpose is like walking in a dark tunnel without any light source. Additionally, you have no aim in the tunnel to this discomforting situation.

Is this even possible? You might wonder.

Since I stopped publishing articles and podcast episodes due to a change in my routine, I noticed something that felt different within me. I tried ignoring the feeling and prioritizing other campaigns, such as fellowshipping with my brothers in Church Bible study, having more in-person connections, gyming, working, resting, and just playing video games. (now I think about it, do I feel rested?)

I got word from a brother who advised me not to be a dam that stores so much. He said I have alot to give and shouldn't hold myself back. He suggested that I act on what God has called me to do. That was the green light I needed.

I should have acted on it sooner than I did when I started feeling extremely weird, rusty, muddy and yucky.

I also got this confirmation yesterday while fellowshipping with another brother who made me realize that if I don't act on the ministry God has called me to serve, my mind will be taken captive by other things resulting in a purposeless life.

While reading this, you might feel the same or have thought about acting on things your heart is beating for. Due to fear and other crazy thoughts, you are held captive and can't make a move.

I want to activate your purpose by making you see what a purposeless life truly is.

What is a Purposeless life?

A life with no purpose or apparent meaning.

A purposeless life is a useless life.

A life without reason

A life yet to be lived

A self-loathing life

A "me first" life

A purposeless life is dishonouring to God. You atrophy and become who you shouldn't be. You become self-absorbed with everything that isn't setting you up for eternity.

Some people think their 9-5 work and academics are their purpose. They forget that life continues after they get that promotion and certification. God is more focused on who you become than what you attain.

If you pursue these accomplishments solely to elevate yourself, you may feel empty instead of fulfilled.

All these things are vapour compared to the lens of eternity, where God uses us as vessels for his good pleasure.

You don't need to like what I'm saying to understand that God made you on purpose for a purpose.

If you refuse to recognize your value, your role, and how you get used, you'll feel purposeless, which could equate to depression and unruly behaviour that causes you to sin.

God is more focused on who you become than what you attain.

What is Purpose?

The reason something exists or is done, made, used, etc.

Who made you? You might say your parents. Your parents were used as vessels for you to come into this world. They didn't make you.

You can argue, but the sperm and eggs etc., hmmm, we can continue asking the questions about "who made your parents, your grandparents, their parents, etc." If we go far too long, we will end up at Adam and Eve.

Who were the parents of Adam and Eve? I only hear silence.

Isn't it amazing that people believe we came from apes, yet they remain unchanged for over 6,000 years? Same folks who believe this wouldn't allow us to believe God created us. Why can't we both peacefully believe what we want, except one is a fraud and desperately trying to deceive the other, even with massive evidence that it is a lie?

If you think you came from a monkey, I wonder why some of our brothers and sisters haven't transformed into humans. Why hasn't a monkey given birth to a metamorphosized human? Why are they trapped in that stage of evolution?

Side thought; I don’t believe my life purpose is to swing from one tree to another and be an amusement to other species.

Unless they were created that way, by design, by someone, the world ignores a portion of conception.

  • In Genesis, God created Heaven and Earth.- Gen1:1

Genesis 1:26-28

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth

God created us to dominate the earth, not worship the earth.

God created us in our mother's womb. When God spoke to Prophet Jeremiah, he said;

Jeremiah 1:5

"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

Just like Jeremiah, God has a plan for each of us. He knew us before birth, gifted us unique talents, and placed us in our respective families.

Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

This verse explicitly tells us that God did not accidentally create you; instead, God made you on purpose for a purpose.

What is God's Purpose?

Philippians 2:13

For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.

You can argue with the scripture, but how helpful will that be? It's like fighting air because you can't grab God's word with mere hands, but with an open heart, you can absorb every meaning of what He is saying.

We can see that our purpose is within God's purpose. Acting intentionally on what He has called us to do gives him pleasure.

God made you on purpose for a purpose.

According to Innocent in the comment section, “We need to serve God the way he wants to be served, not on our terms. There is a blueprint on how he should be served.”

Like your parents, you are also a vessel He uses to transform lives, make changes, impact souls and reflect his glory.

How to find your purpose

James 4:8

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Since He made you, He is in the best place to tell you why He created you and what you must do to prepare for eternity with him.

He will show you how you get used as a vessel for his Kingdom.

Wrap up

As a coach, I can only point you to the giver of purpose. I can sit with you, talk, and become a confirmation as the brothers in my life did.

Let me know if you accept my invitation for that conversation. I am hungry to see you live a purpose-driven life.
